Villa Fabio Ponti, also known as the “Napoleonica”, was built in the 17th Century and was subsequently enlarged between 1820 and 1830. It is the oldest villa in town and is intrinsically linked to the history of Varese. During the battle of Varese on the 26 May 1859, the Villa was transformed into the general headquarters of Garibaldi; from the next hill, the “Hero of Two Worlds” commanded the operations that led to the defeat of General Urban and the retreat of the Austrian troops towards Como.

Surrounded by vegetation and partially hidden by age old trees, the Villa Napoleonica has been restructured to house conferences and working groups: there is a large lounge on the ground floor, conference rooms and a large boardroom on the first floor, while other rooms and two lounges are available on the second floor.

For the new conference centre of the Chamber of Commerce of Varese situated in Villa Napoleonica, TMA designed and created the bar and the layout of the various rooms intended for use as offices and classrooms. Particular “attention” was paid to the conference room on the ground floor for which TMA supplied the armchairs in black leather, and the speaker’s bench complete with a black lacquered wooden podium.
