Descriptionproject: 1798-1801 / Archt. Gian Antonio Selva, Matteo Pertsch
The Teatro Verdi dates back to the beginning of the 19th Century and is one of the oldest fully-functioning opera theatres in Italy. When the theatre was designed, Gian Antonio Selva had just finished working on the Teatro La Fenice. The layout clearly shows the influence of Giuseppe Piermarini’s Teatro alla Scala, who was directly involved in the definition of the internal structure. The theatre recently underwent a radical restoration, that included structure reinforcement and regulation conformance.
